November 2016 – Our Next Adventure, Gulf Coast Florida

Our next adventure was a week (10 days) vacation in the panhandle of Florida

Our first stop was an over night-er in at the Montgomery South, RV park in Montgomery Al. Right off the highway. The site was huge, we had room for two.

Next stop was in Pensacola. Interesting site. It was fairly wide, but just fit our coach in length.

While we were in Pensacola we visited the National Naval Aviation Museum, Very interesting, aircraft from WW1,11, Korea, Iraq, Vietnam, they had a Nixon’s Air Force 2 there, and various simulators that we tried, one was a flight with the Blue Angels in 4D.

From the museum, we drove into Pensacola city center and had brunch at the Red Slipper, delicious food. Several restaurants and shops in the area, but a really small downtown area.

We also toured the World Golf Hall of Fame which we just happened upon while driving around the area.

After a couple of days in Pensacola, we moved east, through Destin and on to Grayton Beach.

The town of Grayton is on route 30A, a very eclectic place with funky shops and restaurants located in little roads that meander around 30A. Just off the beach is the famous Red Bar – a must visit – great food, drinks, music and very unusual decor

The beach was a 5 minute bike ride from the campsite.

The beaches are pristine, so clean and wide and the sand so soft on the toes.

Panama City is in the distance

They are some fabulous golf courses in the area, so we took the opportunity to play a couple of times

The Links course at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

Up the road from Grayton Beach was the town of Seaside, multi-million dollar homes all along this stretch. As we were off season, it was easy to get around, and restaurants weren’t packed, unfortunately though, not all were open, ice cream shop was though

Went home via Eufaula again and stayed at the Lakepoint Resort. Nice pull-thru site, and didn’t have to unhook the car. We left without incident
