We drove for about 1 hour drive west Rte 89 to Kanab UT. we’re so close the AZ border our clocks keep changing from one time zone to another, lucky we don’t have any appointments to keep.

We reached the Hitch N Post RV Park which is a small campground in the middle of Kanab, and the oldest campground in UT founded in 1959

The locals are very proud of their “Hollywood” heritage with dozens of films and TV series filmed in this area.

There are 12 campsites and 2 cabins for rent and we were designated site #12 in the center of the park.

The owners Doug and Suzanne were gracious hosts and greeted us warmly providing us with brochures and local points of interest

We stayed here for 3 days and the first morning we found a lovely French cafe and bakery.

Across the street is the Little Hollywood Movie Museum with memorabilia from the old westerns

Drove down Johnson Canyon Rd to see the original Gunsmoke set, a little weather worn, in disrepair,  but highly revered. You can’t get to the site, so you have to view it a ggod distance away from the road.

The next day we went down Johnson Canyon Rd again, but took it to the end to head to Apache Lake.

Finally some wildlife other then cows and horses

We were at an elevation of about 8,000′, and there was still snow on the ground

It was a warm day and the snow was melting into the already rushing rivers

We arrived in Duck Creek Village in time for lunch, this is a relatively new resort area. There were many chalet style homes being built around the lake and scores of snowmobile/UTV/ATV’s for rent

All in the same day we went from snow to sand, and our next stop was Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

The park rents out sleds to slide down the silky sands

There was a car wash across the street from the campground, so we did our best to wash both the coach and the Jeep. We didn’t do a great job, but cheaper than paying another $400. In any case in rained as soon as we left, so by the time we reached our next destination we were covered in muck once again.
