When we left Van Horn, Texas, we had planned a tour of Southern New Mexico, but the weather was so awful a change of plan was in order and a touch of warm weather was needed. so we decided to move toward AZ
We drove through El Paso a thriving city with a huge amount of construction in progress on I10 making Atlanta’s spaghetti junction look more like a spaghetti O. This is another border town with a close relationship with its’ Mexican neighbor across the highway. They even have a marathon run which is routed back and forth over the border.

Interesting Rest Areas. They had little covered picnic tables
We had previously ordered our mail to be delivered in Las Cruces NM. so drove to a truck stop, unhooked the car and drove into town to the post office to pick it up. On the way we came upon a fabulous French cafe that was buzzing with diners called Le Rendez-vous Cafe & French Pastry and it did not disappoint.

Lunch stop in Las Cruces
Of course we had to leave with some pastries for consumption later, then drove back to the coach, hooked back up and drove on

Desert to go
We hadn’t ever seen as many cows as we did on this little stretch outside Las Cruces.
There were probably 7 or 8 large pens like these

A lot of dairies along I-10
About an hour west of Las Cruces we stopped at another Escapee park in Deming NM Dream Catcher RV Park
We couldn’t pass up the $14 per night rate, so checked in for 2 nights.
We were invited out to dinner with a group of 26 campers at the park, to the China Restaurant in Deming
