We left Old Federal Campground and went to a RV repair shop down the road to have our rear drivers side tail light looked at as it wasn’t working. $23 in parts and $128 in labor, GEEEZ! So after 2 hours of non customer service we got on the road to our next destination, Piedmont SC.
Our pantry door keeps opening as we travel down the road, plus the front of the pull out couch fell off so a couple of items to fix when we get to Albany, This is the price we pay when driving in “earthquake “ conditions every day.
So much construction on I-85 and at about 4 pm we arrived at the Golden Grove Farm and Brewery

Not the best parking condition and not the view we’d had at Lake Lanier. Hope it doesn’t rain.

We were met by Andrew the twenty something owner, and invited in to the brewery.

We grabbed a bite to eat and Chris took another one for the team

Behind the bus was the interstate, so there was a constant hum of traffic in the background

The front entrance to the bar area.

The menu of craft beers served by Jeanne, Andrews’ girlfriend from Kentucky

The beer taps were colorful and interesting

Around 5pm the parking lot suddenly filled up and about 30 people emerged and walked through the woods for a disc golf tournament.

it was another interesting stop, Andrew had plans for the future for a full service RV park and there is a shortage in the area, and he was so friendly and welcoming, we wished him well but left quite early in case all his friends came back for another round of disc golf.
We left the Brewery and headed north, first on I-85 to Charlotte, then on I-77 north to I-81.
Construction and heavy truck traffic held us up quite a bit but it was a very picturesque area through the Blue Ridge mountains.

Interesting cloud formation over the Shenandoah Valley

We made it to the Draper Village/Draper Mercantile Harvest Host spot after driving through 5 states (SC,NC,WV,MD,VA). We were not exactly sure if this was where we were suppose to park, but we went up the driveway and low and behold there were 2 cement parking markers for HH 1 and HH 2.

Not happy with the unevenness of HH 1 we moved to HH 2. By the time we’d finished cavorting around the mercantile had closed. Dinner would have to be on our own

Draper s a village in southwest Virginia with a population of about 320. It has a post office , fire station and Draper Mercantile, on whose property we were staying.

This would have been a good reference point on the Harvest Host website for this place to direct RVer’s where to park. Oh well, we found it.

Just down the road was the Draper Mercantile, where we had breakfast before we left

Inside was very reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel, they served a very nice breakfast

Tea Garden.

Another Harvest Host guest arrived from NY who owned a brewery in Rochester and also were Harvest Host hosts themselves.

We left the following morning and set the GPS for Harrisonburg VA, and the Harrisonburg Free Will Baptist Church.
We were met by Pastor Paul

–

A little slope to the drivers side, so we trod carefully.

Edging ever closer to Albany NY we arrived at another church, St Stephens Lutheran church in New Kingstown PA. This one was a quick change of plan when we realized that the drive we’d planned was 5 1/2 hours, much too far so we chopped it in half and stopped here. The next stop was for a 3 night stay so that turned into 2. A fifth-wheel pulled up next to us (sorry no pic) and the owners were new to traveling but doing the same as us, staying at a tractor museum the night before.

Pretty level spot. The church and the one next to it were on Main St, the only other business on Main St was a sandwich shop. It was eerily dark inside and Chris was the only customer, still the food wasn’t bad, can’t say much about the cleanliness.

Big parking lot, lots of rigs would fit here. Only heard from the vicar just before we left, so he missed out on his donation. He should get together with Pastor Paul, he’d learn about the benefits of “meet and greets”

It’s still raining, and forecast is for more rain plus we’ve heard that the smoke has rolled back in from Canada. We’ll we didn’t come for the weather, but it would be nice if we could get out more.
